IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR AT THE LAND OF LEGENDS RACEWAY

C.J. Guererri of Geneva, NY is a consistent top driver in the Eldredge & Sons Scrap Street Stocks at Land of Legends Raceway Park in 2024. While he awaits the first victory of the season here at the famed clay oval, Guererri did enjoy two a year ago and finished second in points as well. Guererri has seen success, finishing consistently in the top five resulting in a fourth place points run at the half way point of the season.  

“The Street Stocks are a very competitive division here, every night it’s so tough. I expected to be better though, especially with the equipment I’ve got.” said C.J. of a class that has been a part of his Saturday nights for the past 17 years. “I started racing twenty years ago. My first three years in a Pure Stock class.” Amongst CJ’s 54 wins which came at the Land of Legends Raceway, Outlaw, Woodhull, Skyline and Paradise, he also has a title to his credit coming in 2022 at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY.

C.J grew up watching his dad Dave Sr in Street Stocks and later as a drag racer. C.J. has three cousins in the Stirling Lubricants Sportsman division…Matt, Frank and Paul. To say the Guererri name is well known at the Land of Legends Raceway would be an understatement.

When asked if he ever thought about moving to another division. “It all comes down to money,” said C.J. “I’ve thought about RUSH Late Models, that’s about it when it comes to driving other divisions.” The love for full fender racing is evident for this second generation driver and his family.

Away from the race track, C.J. makes a living as an auto mechanic and tow truck driver.

His crew is Davie, Dave Sr, Uncle Jammer, Hannah, Kitcho, Marcus, Cory, Curren and his mom June. Mom and dad can also be found helping out weekly at the raceway in ticketing and driving the pace car while sister Hannah has also been known to jump in when needed.  It is truly a family affair for the Guererri’s each Saturday night in Canandaigua, NY.
